For the optional entry of a PIN for the respective chip card, the reader has a keypad with ten numeric and three input keys. This transfers the PIN directly to the card, without a detour via the PC. This also makes the device particularly secure because the PIN cannot be adapted or otherwise intercepted by viruses or Trojans. To control the reader (for example, to read or write onto the card), simply and conveniently connect the chip card reader to the USB interface of the respective computer via the cable (1.5 m). The transmission speed is very high with up to 600 kbps and ensures fast and instant processing of the data.

The device has a compact footprint of just 70 x 120 x 40 mm (W x D x H) and a weight of just 250 grams, making it ideal as a desktop device. Plus, it is operable with one hand. Two LEDs and an additional acoustic signal provide a successful or unsuccessful capture to the user. The reader's design ensures long-term use, processing over 200,000 plugging cycles without disruption.
